“From the stomach, or the imagination…”

WOLF BookWOLF Artist Book

“…From the stomach, or the imagination…” is an artist book created as a companion to an installation of the same name created by the collective WOLF. The installation was part of the 2025 group exhibition at The Campus (Hudson, NY) in 2025.

The title quotes Marx in Capital as he seeks to clarify the relationship between production and need, asserting that the biological and psychological are both encompassed within the framework of necessity. Rather than create an exhibition catalog, we used the opportunity of the book to digest and reanimate the sources and materials. The book is therefore a response those rather than a representation.

The book is divided into three distinct but unmarked volumes. Volume One is research and sources, Volume Two is physical installation and location, and Volume Three is a reader. Each volume is designated by distinct approaches to image processing and page structure.
